Eco Dune Tour
In the main river courses because of the vegetation and flowering plants
other birds which we may encounter are Black-chested Prinia,
Bokmakierie, White-backed Mousebird, Cape Sparrow, Rock Martin, and the
only endemic to the country, the Dune Lark of the Kuiseb dunes.
Here we will also search for the Wedge-snouted Desert Lizard and
a host of interesting desert beetles.
The Kuiseb also has huge “Nara” hummock’s a native wild melon
which is naturally harvested by the local people on a semi-commercial
basis, this unique plant has modified leaves which form spines so as to
reduce transpiration, but besides this the plant’s fruits are eaten by a
variety of animals such as Oryx, Black-backed Jackal and Brown Hyhaena.
